Yes, this is certainly a slot whose theme even stands out from their own collection. We visit one of the horrible prison camps, also called Gulag and Nolimit City has really managed to reflect this place well. For starters, the music and sound effects that play during the course of the game are phenomenally created. Its moody tones create a certain unease at first which then transitions to sweeter piano tones. This game provider's slots are usually imbued with a "go hard or go home" mentality, and this slot is no exception. There is an extremely high volatility that the slot has, and the balance can thus shift powerfully during the course of the game, but with a high risk usually comes a high reward where players can win up to an incredible 30,000X the bet. One has certainly been incredibly spoiled by their more recent slots, where Tombstone RIP had a potential maximum win of 300000X, but this version's MAX WIN is clearly still within a gigantic size. There are a lot of familiar features to take advantage of here, with xSplit, xWays and xNudge, among others, ensuring that the gaming experience is incredibly eventful throughout the course of the game. It can be very dizzying and a lot to keep track of at first, but you get into the game pretty quickly despite this and once you start to grasp the game's layout, everything immediately gets much better. Whilst the theme/backstory is controversial, Nolimit City planned for the Remember Gulag long before what’s going on the world (at the time of writing). Straight off the bat the graphics and soundtrack will engage you immediately and there’s honestly no other slot game like it. Is it appropriate theme wise? Many would argue it isn’t but at least Nolimit City haven’t played it safe and gone for another ancient Egyptian or Norse mythology turnout. In the base game, things start off rather slowly. The xSplit Wilds can increase the number of ways to win up to 614,656 and the xNudge Wilds increasing the multiplier. However, the Gulag Spins feature is where the best action will come from. This is played with reels 5 and 6 open which instantly gives you more ways to win. You will trigger the Gulag Spins feature every 211 spins on average. Triggering with 4 or 5 scatters for the All Aboard or Double Vodka modes will occur once every 12,000 spins on average. Once in the feature, upgrading to the next mode will occur once every 27 times which is low. Now, in the free spins, big wins will see superb animations such as political leaders kissing with the slogan ‘Make love, not war’ appearing. Controversial yes but unique. Your win potential in the free spins varies drastically by the mode you’re playing. In the standard more, the max win will be achieved once every 520,000 spins. With the All Aboard mode, it’s once every 8,000 spins. If you play the Double Vodka mode, 1 in 3,000 spins will result in the Oligarch Status being achieved. This means a 30,000 x bet payout. On this first occasion, xSplit symbols go a long way towards assisting wins through the feature, as any xSplit symbols in view to the right of a Scatter symbol will turn the Scatter into a Super Scatter symbol – which within this release assists in progressing the feature through several levels. However, aside from the progression through bonus levels, xSplit as individual symbols increase win ways during base play. Any xSplit symbol in view will split all symbols to the left of it into two, increasing the ways to win. After this, the xSplit symbols will turn into wilds – for the potential of huge wins.
